What to Expect on Your First Visit
If you have never been to a studio like ours, the unknowns can be the thing that keeps a booking sitting in a browser tab for a fortnight. So here is the whole visit, start to finish, with nothing left out.
Arrive about ten minutes before your appointment. There is a small lounge by the window with tea and water, and no one will rush you through it. If you are running late, call. We will always try to keep as much of your session as the day allows.
Before we begin
Your therapist will sit down with you for a few minutes first. The questions are practical ones: which areas you would like the session to focus on, how much pressure you enjoy, whether there is anywhere you would rather we left alone, and whether you have any allergies to oils or fragrances. There are no wrong answers and nothing you have to justify.
You will then have the room to yourself to get comfortable. You undress only as far as you are happy to, and you are covered with towels throughout: only the area being worked on is uncovered at any one time.
During the treatment
The room is kept warm and low-lit, and the music is quiet enough to talk over. Some guests chat the whole way through and some fall asleep in the first ten minutes; both are completely normal.
Say something the moment anything is uncomfortable, too firm, too light, too warm, too cold. Adjusting as we go is part of the work, not an interruption to it.
The best sessions are the ones where someone tells us what they actually want, rather than the thing they think they are supposed to ask for.
Afterwards
Take your time getting up. There is tea in the lounge, and most people sit with it for a while before heading back out. If oils have been used, they are the kind that soak in rather than sit on the skin, but plenty of guests still prefer to shower at home rather than beforehand.
If you would like to book again, reception can find a slot before you leave, or you can do it later from the site. There is never any pressure to book on the way out.
