Harrington Targets a 5 Star Green Star Rating

Harrington Residences is being delivered to a 5 Star Green Star design rating, independently assessed. The modelling shows a 38 per cent reduction in energy use against a code-compliant tower of the same size and orientation.

Most of that comes from the facade. Double glazed units with a low-emissivity coating and thermally broken frames hold heat in through winter and reject it in summer, so the mechanical plant does far less work at both ends of the year.

Rooftop photovoltaics carry the common areas through daylight hours, rainwater is harvested for irrigation and cooling make-up, and ninety per cent of construction waste is diverted from landfill under a contract obligation audited at each stage payment.
