Prague sleeps in every register. Romantics book the painted baroque houses under the castle steps; design lovers head for the converted printworks lofts of Holesovice with their concrete, brass and river light.
Families do well beside the island parks of Kampa, where trams pass every four minutes and swans outnumber tourists at breakfast. Budget travellers should look at the monastery cellars turned bunk rooms in the New Town.
Whatever the style, ask for a courtyard room: the cobbled lanes are beautiful at midnight and loud at one.
