How Often Should You Really Deep Clean?

A regular clean keeps a home presentable. A deep clean resets it: inside the oven, inside the cupboards, behind the appliances and up the tile grout. The two are different jobs and one does not substitute for the other.

For most households, twice a year is right: once in spring when the windows can be opened, and once before the winter holidays when the house fills with people. Homes with pets, a wood burner or serious cooking benefit from four.

The spring visit is the one that matters most. Winter puts a film on everything (condensation on the windows, dust from the heating, grease from months of indoor cooking), and it does not come off with a weekly clean.

If you only ever book one, book the one before you host. There is no faster way to make a house feel ready than to have the oven, the extractor and the bathroom tiles taken back to new the week before.
