Materials
Every fabric we buy is recycled, bluesign approved, or both. Our shell fabrics run 100% recycled nylon and polyester; our insulation is responsible down or recycled synthetic fill. Leather comes from two Leather Working Group gold-rated tanneries, and nothing is chrome tanned.
We publish the mill for every fabric we use. If a supplier will not tell us where a yarn came from, we do not buy the yarn.
Repair Before Replace
A Wildroot product is meant to outlive its owner's enthusiasm for replacing things. Our workshop in Portland repairs zips, seams, buckles and shells for the life of the product, and we stock spares for ten years after a line is discontinued.
The 1% Pledge
One percent of revenue, not profit, goes to wild-land conservation every year. Since 2015 that has funded trail restoration in the Cascades, watershed protection in the Columbia basin, and access work with three tribal land trusts.
The number is audited annually and published in full alongside our accounts.
Carbon and Freight
We ship by sea, never by air, and consolidate to full containers even when that costs us a launch date. Our Portland workshop and both warehouses run on renewable electricity.
What we cannot yet avoid, we measure and report. We do not buy offsets in place of reductions.
