Behind the Seams: How We Choose the Fabric

Every piece in the collection passes the same three checks before we place an order. None of them are glamorous, and all of them are the difference between a garment you keep and one you replace next year.

Weight tells you the season

Fabric weight is measured in grams per square metre, and it is the single most honest number on a spec sheet. A summer shirt at 110gsm and a winter one at 180gsm can be cut identically and behave nothing alike.

Weave tells you the wear

A tight weave resists snagging and holds its shape; an open one breathes and creases. Neither is better, but a design that wants a crisp collar and picks an open weave will disappoint everyone.

Finish tells you the truth

Some finishes are there to make a fabric feel expensive on the shelf and wash out on the third cycle. We ask for a washed sample every time, because that is the garment the customer actually owns.
