How to Read a Size Chart and Actually Get It Right

Autumn collection men's fashion lookbook

Most returns are not a fault in the garment. They are a mismatch between the number on the label and the body wearing it, and almost all of them are avoidable with a tape measure and five minutes.

Measure the body, not the jeans

Take your chest, waist and hip measurements over a single thin layer, with the tape level and snug but not tight. Measuring over a favourite pair of trousers adds an inch you will spend the rest of the year fighting.

Between two sizes? Read the fabric

A woven shirt with no stretch should be taken up a size. A knit with elastane can be taken down. The fabric composition is printed on every product page for exactly this reason.

When in doubt, ask

Our team answers fit questions in plain language and will tell you when a piece runs small. That conversation is cheaper for everyone than a return label.
