The situation
A practice of eighty staff had outgrown a bookkeeping process that still depended on one person and a spreadsheet. Month end took nine working days and reporting was always retrospective.
What we did
We moved reconciliation to a weekly cycle, documented the process with a named second for every task and introduced a short monthly pack. Month end now closes in three days and the partners read the numbers while they can still act on them.
