Engineering Movement into Stone and Steel
Wavelength Structure takes its name from the rolling steel ribbons that wrap the facade of this Madrid cultural center. Each ribbon was rolled to a bespoke radius off site, then lifted into place and tuned on the ground so the curves flow without a visible seam.
Behind the sculptural skin sits a highly serviced exhibition hall with a column-free span of thirty-two meters. We coordinated the acoustic, lighting and climate systems inside a slender floor zone, giving the client a flexible venue that stays cool through the Spanish summer with minimal mechanical cooling.
