About this Project
Star Light had a dashboard that showed everything and explained nothing.
The work started with a fortnight of watching real analysts use it. Three tasks accounted for most of a working day, so the new information architecture puts those three on the first screen and everything else one click behind a command palette.
Accessibility drove more decisions than aesthetics did: a 4.5:1 minimum on every data label, a full keyboard path through the filter bar, and charts that carry their own text summary for screen readers.
The front end is hand-built (no component library) because the chart interactions needed frame-level control.
Time-to-first-insight dropped from just under four minutes to fifty seconds.
