The short version: be clear about what you need, pay on time, and the work is yours. The longer version is below.
Scope of work
Every project starts with a written brief that lists the deliverables, the number of design directions and the review rounds included. Anything outside that brief is quoted separately before it is started.
Fees and payment
Projects are quoted as a fixed fee unless the brief says otherwise. Fifty per cent is invoiced at the start and the balance on delivery, payable within fourteen days.
Work pauses on an overdue invoice rather than continuing quietly, so nobody is surprised.
Ownership
On final payment the copyright in the delivered design and code transfers to you. The studio keeps the right to show the work in its portfolio unless you ask it not to.
Third-party assets (fonts, stock photography, plugins) are licensed to you directly by their vendors, and those licences are listed at handover.
Revisions
Two rounds of revisions are included on the direction you approve. Changing direction after approval is new work and is quoted as such.
Cancellation
Either side can end a project in writing. You pay for the work completed up to that point and receive the files for it.
