FAQs

Clay, glaze, delivery and everything else people write to ask us. If your question is not here, the contact page reaches a person.

Is everything really made by hand?

Yes. Every piece is thrown on a wheel in our own studio and finished by the person who threw it. Nothing is slip-cast and nothing is bought in.

Why do two of the same jar look different?

Because a glaze is a suspension and a kiln is not uniform. Small differences in glaze thickness and shelf position change the finished surface. It is the mark of a handmade piece, not a fault.

Are the pieces food safe?

Every glaze we use is food safe and lead free, and every glazed piece is dishwasher safe. Unglazed exteriors are safe to touch food but will darken with handling, which is intended.

How long does an order take?

Anything shown as in stock leaves the studio within two working days. A commission takes six to eight weeks, because the clay has to dry before it can be fired twice.

How is a large piece shipped?

In a moulded crate, double boxed, with the piece suspended so it never touches the outer wall. Shipping is included on orders over one hundred euro within the EU.

What if something arrives broken?

Send us a photograph within seven days and we replace it or refund it, your choice. We have never argued about a breakage and we do not intend to start.

Can I visit the studio?

On the first Saturday of the month, between ten and four. There is no need to book, and there is usually a firing to look at.

Do you sell to shops?

Yes. Write to us with your trading name and we will send the wholesale terms and the current lead times.
