Building Portfolio Sites That Convert Leads.

Building Portfolio Sites That Convert Leads.

Prospects do not browse portfolios; they scan for evidence that you have solved their problem before. That means the caption matters more than the crop. “Booking flow, five steps to two, bookings up 31%” earns a reply. “Restaurant website” does not.

Lead with three projects, not thirty. A shortlist reads as confidence and a long list reads as an archive. Anything else belongs behind a “more work” link, where the curious can find it and nobody else has to wade through it.

Then make the next step embarrassingly obvious. One primary action, repeated at the end of every case study, in the same words every time. The best-performing portfolio I have built has a single button in the whole layout, and it doubled enquiries by removing choices rather than adding them.
