A still life study of inherited household objects, each photographed in the position it was found in, under one north facing window.

When my grandmother died her flat was emptied in a weekend. I kept nineteen things that nobody wanted and photographed each of them without arranging anything, in the order they came out of the boxes.

What survives a household

A darning egg, a bus pass, a jar of buttons sorted by colour by somebody who is no longer here to explain the system. The series is less about the objects than about the fact that the sorting outlasted the sorter.

Every household is an archive that nobody meant to keep.
