What changes the price

Your excess
The voluntary excess is the part of a claim you agree to pay yourself. Moving from $250 to $1,000 typically takes 12 to 18 per cent off the premium, worth doing only if you could pay it tomorrow.
How you pay
Paying annually avoids the credit charge built into monthly instalments, which is usually between 6 and 11 per cent of the total.
Claims in the last five years
A single claim rarely doubles a premium, but two in three years moves you into a different pricing band. Protected no-claims discounts hold the discount, not the price.
What you add
Legal expenses, key cover and gadget cover are each priced separately and shown before you accept. None of them are added by default.
