Talking to someone about your mood
Most people wait far too long, usually because they are not sure the problem is “bad enough”. It does not have to be.
What the first appointment is for
Mostly listening. We ask about sleep, appetite, concentration, and what a normal week looks like at the moment. Nothing is decided in the first hour except what to try next.
Therapy, medication, or both
For mild to moderate low mood and anxiety, talking therapy alone works well. Medication is offered when symptoms are heavier or therapy alone has not moved things, and it is always a conversation.
If you are struggling tonight
Call the practice during opening hours, or your local emergency service outside them. Waiting for an appointment is not the plan when things are acute.
