They are a mismatch between the number on the label and the body wearing it, and almost all of them are avoidable with a tape measure and five minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Measure the body, not the jeans<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Take your chest, waist and hip measurements over a single thin layer, with the tape level and snug but not tight. Measuring over a favourite pair of trousers adds an inch you will spend the rest of the year fighting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Between two sizes? Read the fabric<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A woven shirt with no stretch should be taken up a size. A knit with elastane can be taken down.
