Click data from two million pages says that is backwards.<\/p><h3>The first three blocks take most of the clicks<\/h3><p>Across the pages we can see, the first three link blocks take a little over seventy percent of all clicks. The fourth block takes about eight percent. Everything below it shares what is left.<\/p><p>That is not a reason to publish fewer links. It is a reason to decide, deliberately, which three things you want a visitor to do.<\/p><h3>Put the newest thing second, not first<\/h3><p>Your top block should be the thing that is true every week: the newsletter, the shop, the main channel. Put the launch, the tour date or the new episode directly underneath it.<\/p><p>When the launch ends, retire that block on a schedule and the page goes back to its steady state without you touching it.<\/p><p>Open your analytics, sort by click-through rate rather than by clicks, and move whatever is winning per view into the top three.
