Five mornings, five short walks, all of them starting at the front door of our Amsterdam dormitory and all of them back in time for breakfast.<\/p><p>Start at the water. The canals are empty before eight, the light is low and flat, and the only sounds are bicycles and the occasional boat. Walk east and the markets are already setting up.<\/p><p>By the fifth morning you will have a favourite bakery and a shortcut nobody told you about.
